Lake Information

Lake Campbell is a prairie glacial lake covering approximately 900 acres in Eastern South Dakota.  It is located on the southwest edge of Brookings County and straddles the Moody County line.  The kidney bean shaped lake is fed by Battle Creek flowing into the lake from the south and exiting the north of the lake into the Big Sioux River.  The construction of a dam in the 1900’s has assisted in maintaining a consistent water level over the years.  Just a short 10 miles south of Brookings, SD, Lake Campbell is inhabited by year around lake homes and summer cabins.  Boating, swimming and fishing contribute to the recreational atmosphere of the lake.
